PREVIEW:

IBO cruiserweight world champion Danny Green remains confident he has the power and speed to overcome his lack of size in Wednesday night's bout with American BJ Flores in Perth.Flores, who boasts 24 wins and a draw from 25 professional bouts, is expected to clock in at just under the 90.7kg cruiserweight limit at Tuesday's weigh-in.But by the time Flores steps into the ring, the 31-year-old could weigh somewhere in the mid-90s.Advertisement: Story continues below
Green weighed in at just 83.6kg when he defeated Paul Briggs in July and is expected to be only slightly heavier for this fight. But the 37-year-old West Australian believed he possessed the weapons to dismantle a bulked-up Flores, whose 18cm reach advantage could also prove to be a factor.

"BJ's a more filled-out guy so I anticipate he'll put on 8kg minimum (after the weigh-in) so by the time we get into the ring there will be a big size difference," Green said on Monday."But that won't matter. My speed, power and accuracy is going to be the telling factor."I think BJ may have bitten off a bit more than he can chew."He keeps saying I have, but I don't think he's ever been in (the ring) with a person that has got as much intent and will to be victorious as I have."

Flores said he couldn't rely on his weight to get the job done against Green, who boasts a 30-3 win-loss record, featuring 27 knockouts."I think weight is just a small part of the equation in a fight," Flores said."We saw the other day Manny Pacquiao weighed in at 143.5 (pounds) and I think (Antonio) Margarito weighed in at 150."It just comes down to who the better fighter is. Margarito got completely dominated by Pacquiao.

"Weight is a very small equation in a fight but the size will and can definitely help, but that's only if all the skills and everything else is equal."Flores hasn't fought for 15 months due to a contract dispute. But the well-spoken American said he was ready to announce himself on the world stage with victory over Green."My career hasn't really started yet," Flores said.

"This is phase one and this is where my career starts and my career won't end on Wednesday, I can guarantee that."If people want to call that cocky, then that's cocky."Green, intent to repay his fans with a quality win after the "sham" contest against Briggs, tried his best to counter Flores' smooth talking"As far as his career starting Wednesday night - I don't think you just wake up after 24 fights and go: 'I want to have a career now'," Green said.

"I feel that BJ is probably trying to pump himself up and get his own confidence going here."I actually don't think he's that confident."If he can swim he's going to need a life raft because I'm going to be on him like a white pointer."
